Elected School Boards

Democratically elected local school boards are a key facet of public education in BC and across the country. While the provincial government provides the funding, sets curriculum and governs education through the School Act, local trustees know the needs of their communities and are best situated to make informed decisions that affect the public schools in their districts.  In turn, IPE/BC believes that it is incumbent on trustees to be accessible, outspoken and determined advocates for quality, well-funded, inclusive and accessible public education.
